Now you can view almost all the news from news.yahoo.in for free on your mobile, Including News, Sports, Cricket, Bollywood and Lifestyle. Yahoo is offering News access for free exclusively for Vodafone India and Aircel India subscribers without data plan.

The technology used here is USSD(Unstructured Supplementary Service Data). We use this technology regularly for checking prepaid balance, for activating special offer... . So, to check the yahoo news it is not important to have a smartphone. USSD ia a text only service. We can't see pictures and videos.
So, we can check the free news on basic phone also.

Step by Step guide
- Go to dial pad in smartphone. In case of feature phone or basic phone simply type *555#
- Enter the selection from categories displayed and click send. For example i selected 1 for sports related news.
- Headlines will be displayed based on selected category. Then again enter selection number to read the full article.
- That's all. You have successfully read the Yahoo news in your phone for free without mobile internet.
Remember this service is text-only service . Type 0 to go back or 00 to go to the Yahoo news main menu in USSD service.
